Apple has released a new update to prevent unauthorized USB-C docks from damaging your Macbook Pro (version 2019 and higher) in MacBook Air (version 2020 and higher).
With the addition of accessories from different manufacturers, the theoretical possibility of damage to an expensive computer, with which you e.g. non-certified USB-C hub to extend connection and “darkness will occur”. This is somehow the interpretation of the latest update for macOS with the numbering 11.2.2.
It is not known if a device is damaged and to what extent, but it is clear that some users have noticed major issues, otherwise this update would not work. Apple does not comment here on what is unfortunate, as it would be immediately clear which third-party devices could damage your MacBook and be easily prevented.
