The Bigos 4 rocket from Gdynia's SpaceForest took office at Babie Doły's military airport on Friday, 2 November 2018. The attempt was a complete success.
SpaceForest announced on its Facebook profile that it had carried out the first flight of the new Bigos 4 rocket on November 2, 2018. This experiment was conducted in conjunction with a flight control tower at the military airport of Babie Dołach, north of Gdynia. The flight proceeded smoothly. The engine has recorded the correct operation and the rocket has reached the ceiling and has been repaired without damage. With success, SpaceForest is planning a test flight in the future.
The BIGOS 4 research rocket is the first of the key steps in the Sorb (Suborbital Inexpensive Rocket) project to create a rocket for a lower orbit mission and carry loads of up to 50 kg up to 150 km. This is a 1: 2 scale SIR vehicle model. Measures 5.5 m, diameter 204 mm, weight without propellant 65 kg, weight 100 kg. The expected maximum speed is 600 m / s (Ma 1.9). BIGOS 4 can fly again within 72 hours.
