As the automotive industry moves to unattended technology for mass markets, three manufacturers are developing hyper machines that will be part of the fastest cars.
Aston Martin announced the intention to build a road car that could wrap circuits as fast as the Formula One machine in 2016. The company later called the limited-edition model Valkyrie.
In September 2017, Mercedes-AMG unveiled the Formula 1 engine's first Hyper Car (formerly Project One) in front of thousands of people at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Moving fast into October of this year, McLaren announced the long awaited Speedtail. The new Hyper Car is a three-seater model inspired by the F1 supercar in the early 1990s.
Fans have been trying to compare pictures between three hypercars, all of which boast flagship and seven-figure price lists.
But through the overhaul, the trio of speed machines is much different than it first appeared.
These are three hypercars of three very different designs.
The trio's track-centered model is the Valkyrie. It's written by renowned Red Bull Racing Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey who won several F1 titles over the last 20 years.
The car has a very aggressive design and seems to have enough bodywork to handle the mechanical foundation. As with the tiny carbon fiber wings hanging from the front bumper, two large air ducts hang down to help improve the downforce at high speeds.
Behind, a large carbon fiber diffuser sits under the body – wide rear wing of the Valkyrie. It always moves automatically to provide optimal downforce.
In the meantime, the Mercedes-AMG One has a slightly more subtle look than the Aston. One appears to be slightly larger than the Valkyrie and has less carbon fiber winglets than its rivals to help create the downforce at high speed.
Still, Mercedes has a host of electronically controlled winglets throughout the hull designed to improve high-speed grip. Small carbon fiber fins run to the center of the engine cover.
McLaren calls the speed tail a Hyper GT. This is because we run the race track fast because we run at home in the Italian Riviera.
The sophisticated design of the vehicle has no wings found in other hypercars. This reduces drag and allows the car to reach top speeds higher than its competitors. There is an electronic wing on the back. They are seamlessly integrated into the car's bodywork.
Each manufacturer has its own idea of creating the ultimate hyper-car engine.
The engine configuration of the Mercedes-AMG is no doubt the most radical of the trio. The One won the F1 championship in 2015 using the same 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 hybrid engine.
Assembled at Brixworth's F1 plant, this engine connects to four electric motors. According to Car magazine, which combines the two systems, One can produce 1,086 bhp and rotate up to 11,000 rpm, 1,000 rpm lower than Hamilton's F1 machines.
Much like One, Aston Martin has adopted a high-performance engine based on Formula One. According to Top Gear, the Valkyrie 6.5-liter motor is similar to the 2.4-liter V8 engine used in the Williams FW32 F1 car. 2010.
Details are rare. But the site riding the car expects the hybrid V12-engined Valkyrie to produce about 1,000 bhp.
Meanwhile, McLaren 's Speedtail is set to match the power output of One and Valkyrie as its hybrid system produces 1,036 bhp. The British supercar maker has not yet released the engine shape of the Speedtail. But Evo expects it to match its version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 motor.
McLaren says the speedtail can reach a top speed of 250 mph, surpassing the top speed of 2100 mph.
Interior and technology
There is not much to say about Valkyrie 's cabin as hypercar is more focused on setting the record – knee lap times in the racecourse than taking two residents comfortably in the south of France.
Called "ruthlessly efficient" by Top Gear, Valkyrie's cabin features a "F1 style wheel full of buttons". There is a digital display behind the steering wheel with two touchscreen panels located on both sides.
One 's interiors are similar in many respects to Valkyrie' s, but Mercedes seems to offer more room for the passenger than the Aston.
The operator gets a custom handle that is covered with carbon fiber. This comes with an elongated strip of LEDs run along the top of the wheel. It gives reading engine speed, says Autocar. There is a digital display behind the wheel and a touch screen above the center console.
The Spirit Tail cabin is closer to the Grand Tourer than a sprinting racing machine. The leather trim covers the interior of the car, and metal highlights can be found on the door and footrest.
The driver sits in the middle of the speedtail and two passengers are located on either side of the central driver's seat. This arrangement was inspired by McLaren's F1 supercar in the early 1990s. However, unlike F1's minimalist interior, Speedtail keeps the cabin clean by installing digital screens and dials on the roof.
Evo is the most expensive car of the Aston Martin's hypercars, with Valkyrie expecting a price tag from 2m to £ 3m. Only 99 tracks Create 24 tracks with AMR Pro version.
Mercedes-AMG already sold all 275 examples of One. According to Autocar, the price of each model is 2.1 million pounds.
The McLaren Speedtail is the most expensive model at £ 1.6m before tax is charged, but it is less than half the production run of the Mercedes-AMG One. The carmaker has already made 106 cases of three-seater cars, all of which have already been sold.
