Jelle Brandt Corstius filed a rape report in November 2017 by TV producer Gijs van Dam. Both of them would have had sex in 2002 when Jelle Brandt Corstius of Barend & Van Dorp had an internship and Gijs van Dam was the producer there. According to the defendant, the contact would have been made mutually.
The prosecution dismissed both the case against the Giovanni Dam and the fact that the producer was charged with defamation and slander. According to prosecutors, both cases have no grounds for prosecution. There is still a second declaration of defamation against Jelle Brandt Corstius. An Amsterdam prosecutor's spokesman said the decision had not been made.
It is perhaps unclear whether or not Peter Plamman will start the Article 12 proceedings against the prosecution on behalf of Gijs van Dam. He can not comment. Brandt Corstius at least looks away. "My client has decided not to start the Article 12 procedure," said attorney Meijering. "There were all the reasons for doing so, both legal and case-by-case, but the client reached his goal in the context of #MeToo through his publications at Trouw and would like to point out more about this issue."
