Rome (AFP) – His identity is a mystery that has begun him, but a new exhibition in Italy has dedicated to Street Artiest Banksy outside the healing blocks to investigate his works as bicycles for protest.
The solo show, organized by the Museum of Cultures in Milan, is "the first to be Banksy organized by a public museum – from one in Bristol that was put by the artist, but that was a single-exit" Curator Gianni Mercurio said Tuesday.
The Italian show was organized without Banksy's say – and was "very tough, it was like working with a spirit," he told AFP.
Banky's true identity has been a bad secret since the beginning of '90s. He is known as British and comes from Bristol. He places photos of his works on his website, but never commented.
"Banksy has a lot of its success, or rather its population, to the fact that he is an anonymous artist, is a contradiction: his reputation comes from his anonymity," he said.
Mercurio said he opted for a "academic approach" to make the exhibition, titled "A Visual Protest," which opens Wednesday and runs until April.
"I want to understand the audience, who is Banksy as an artist and not just like a media phenomenon, he has become a myth, and that means his art has been continued," he said.
Storyteller and Realist & # 39;
The show begins when viewing the influences of artist, from # 39; Situation after the uprising of May 1968 in Paris.
It investigates important works such as "Love is in air", a stenciled graffiti that has been introduced into a man in # 39; the flower of the tree instead of a Molotov cocktail in a quiet and hard shot.
The first year's performance unfolds around one roof of 80 works, including paintings, sculptures and prints by the artist, and also 60 records and CD-covers that he designed.
Several works show how Banksy's world-famous images subsidize changes in elements in them to change their meaning.
In "Flag", Pulitzer's prize-winner Joe Rosenthal photographs five marines and a marine corpsman on the US flag and replaces them with young Harlem rebuilds, which they raise over a fire car.
In & # 39; Turfkriich & # 39; He is referring to British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in a punk icon, it called the "creative fire".
The exhibition also pays tribute to Banky's famous rats, which he resists in rapers, violin players or artists.
Bank's art, re-satire and politics, resists everything from consumerism to US imperialism or war.
In "Can not Fail The Feeling", for example, Mickey Mouse and Ronald McDonald are transferred to 'famous photography of' The bare girls who fled Napalm bombardments in Vietnam, holding their hands as they walk.
"Banksy's essence is the message, he is a narrator and realist," he said, adding elements and people to everyday life, "said Mercurio.
"He has rejected the rebellion and the political side of the street art, which was abandoned." That's his big credit. "
