More than 27.65 children were vaccinated against measles-rubella (MR) vaccines in the vaccination campaigns held in Jammu and Kashmir on the 27th, official spokesman said. The campaign targeted 38 children ages 9 to 15 years of age on September 24 to eliminate congenital rubella syndrome caused by the rubella virus.
A total of 27,785,731 people were immunized against 17,009,994 children in the Kashmir area and 10,84,737 in the Jammu area.
The campaign is expected to be completed by the end of this month and due for the due date scheduled for October 20th. The measles-rubella campaign is the first campaign to introduce rubella vaccine in the childhood immunization program in India.
