The Sega Dreamcast was considerably superior to the competition between Sony and Nintendo in 1998. From home, it has four slots for controllers and a built-in modem. In the United States, a 56K modem was built, only 33.6K in the rest of the world. The name of the console is composed of English words "dream" ("dream") and "broadcast" ("transmission").
