Sony's patented touchscreen DualShock controller

The DualShock controller with touch screen is patented by Sony Interactive Entertainment America.

This patent, discovered by MP1st and submitted to the US Patent Office in October, describes a new controller with a built-in touch screen.

A controller is provided for wirelessly interfacing with a computing device comprising a computer-defined housing, a first extension extending from a first end of the body, and a second extension extending from the second end. A touch screen formed along a top surface of the body between the first and second extensions, and a second extension extending from the first extension to the first extension, A first button set disposed on a first surface of the touch screen and disposed on an upper surface of the body and a second button set disposed on the upper surface of the body proximate the second extension and on a second side of the touch screen Lt; / RTI & gt; button set.


Sony has not yet commented on the patent. It may be an update to DualShock or simply a future Sony evaluation of the PS5. Nevertheless, we will let you know as we learn more.
