A man died after police shot him at home near Mill Bay on Saturday.
Shawnigan Lake RCMP executives went home from 1100 blocks of Mill Bay Road in Cedar Creek Mobile Home Park and arrested a man as part of a violence investigation, CHEK News reported.
Officers entered the house shortly after noon. A man went to them with a "sharp weapon." They tried to deploy the stun gun in an unsuccessful effort to stop the man, the RCMP said in a statement. Police officers shot him and the man was shocked. He was taken to a hospital where he was killed by an injury.
Nobody was hurt.
An Independent Investigations Office was convened for the investigation. The state agency must review the deaths and injuries associated with the police.
Neighbors said they heard several shots at CHEK News. After a while, I stopped by the stretcher and came out of the house.
