According to this study, this compound attacks far more viruses than host cells.

Researchers at Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) have synthesized new compounds that inhibit replication of the hepatitis C virus at various stages of the cycle. This research, carried out under the auspices of Fapesp's research support foundation, is a method called bioconjugation, which combines existing molecules to produce new biological compounds.

This new compound, called AG-hecate, can also act on bacteria, fungi and cancer cells.

According to Paulo Ricardo da Silva Sanches, author of the study, this type of action is generally uncommon for antiviral agents that isolate specific targets and inhibit viral entry into cells, genetic material synthesis, and other specific processes. Collection and release of new virus particles.
