A defamation suit will be filed against former mayor Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Saeed Khokon, said current mayor Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh.
He told reporters Monday (January 11) morning while inspecting canal cleaning activities in the capital Maniknagar.
Tapas said former Mayor Saeed Khokon’s statement about allegations of corruption was defamatory. Legal action will be taken against him.
Former Mayor Saeed Khokon said Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh lost his mayoral post last Saturday in a human chain in the capital.
At the time, he claimed that Tapas had transferred hundreds of crowns of rupees from the South City Corporation to his own Madhumati Bank. In fact, they take crowns of rupees as profit by investing hundreds of crowns of rupees in various individuals and organizations.
Saeed Khokon added that Tapas has been campaigning against corruption since taking over as mayor. On the other hand, due to lack of money, the poor employees of the Southern City Corporation do not receive their salaries for months. Several city corporation development projects have been halted due to lack of funds.
On Sunday, Mayor Taposh commented that Saeed Khokon’s statement was his personal opinion. Later today, Tapas informed about the case against Saeed Khokon.
