The Mazda CX-5 gets a turbo engine in the United States. Is it our next?

MAZDA in the US has released a new CX-5 specification rating with the CX-9's powerful turbo engine.

Since the CX-5 was launched in 2017, Mazda engineers have found a way to fit a four-cylinder 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder under the bonnet.

In the US, the engine is delivered as part of the new premium "Signature" trim package. Locally, Mazda Australia introduced LE changes to the CX-3 and CX-9 flagship featuring more luxurious interior treatments.

A similar addition to the CX-5 range will probably be called Akera LE. If Mazda Australia follows America's lead, this is the model for the CX-9 turbo engine.

Currently, the most powerful gasoline engine in the CX-5 lineup is a 2.5 liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 140kW and 252Nm. If you go to the tanker you will get a 2.2 liter twin turbo diesel that delivers 140 kW and 450 Nm to the wheels. The CX-9's 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine produces 170kW and 420Nm. Mazda America's new CX-5 Signature is not restrained in any way, producing the same output as the CX-9.

With an average weight of 200kg less than the CX-9, there will be considerable dissatisfaction with the driver's appeal of the CX-5.

Mazda engineers are also challenged to use the CX-5 signature with the updated G-Vectoring Control Plus to interfere with the company's G-Vectoring Control system.

The improved system uses brakes to add stability to the corner exit, where the standard system focuses only on corner entries.

Sport Touring and Grand Touring The trim level offers an atmo 2.5-liter engine and the Grand Touring Reserve is equipped with a slot under the signature and a turbo dock.

WhichCar I first noticed that the CX-5 could get a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine in September of this year after confirming a certified document that registered the car's "SkyActiv-G 2.5T" engine for local certification.

The CX-5 turbo was not confirmed by Mazda Australia.
