JOHANNESBURG – Three companies – Redefine development in Wilgeheuwel, and Ormonde and Tetelestai in Willowbrook – on Tuesday flew electricity and water from the city of Johannesburg.
"Youthful connections seriously remove the quality of city quality care for the people of Johannesburg," said Mayor Herman Mashaba in a raid to ride on illegal connections.
The mayor said the city had to pay the electricity and water costs that were raised and the money returned from silver.
Mashaba was accompanied by MMC for Finance, Funzela Ngobeni, and the city's COO Floyd Brink.
He said in a similar operation last week, it was found that close to R9 million had been lost due to illegal connections to the services of the city by the three developments that were not targeted.
"We do not want to cut off their water and electricity, but we must ensure that everyone follows the law," Mashaba said.
The purpose of this retrieval system was to identify the developments that are not inconsistent and unrelated to the water, electricity, and sewerage services.
